You got the gown, found the veil and bought the shoes. Now you need to pull it all together with the right makeup look. While trends abound, the bottom-line is to go with what makes you look and feel best. But if you are looking for ideas, here are some styles that are buzzing for this year.

Au natural

Fresh-faced beauty has long been a look preferred by most brides. But since Megan Markle showed off her freckles on her wedding day, going minimal has become an even bigger trend. Time to get serious with your facial therapist! Book that program to get your skin ready to go (almost) bare.

Glow, baby, glow

With the emphasis on less is more and all-natural beauty, luminous skin fits right in. Work it with bronzing or highlighting powder from face down to the décolletage. Some serious contouring skills will also help so don’t be afraid to sculpt and shimmer.

Statement lips

Deep berry to dark pink lips are surprisingly the perfect complement for all that simplicity in bridal makeup. With everything toned down, bold lips simply pop – in the most elegant way. Of course this doesn’t mean subtler shades of rose and peach or even going all neutral won’t work. Test it out to see which end of the spectrum you prefer.

Spotlight, eyes!

Channel your inner Audrey Hepburn or Brigitte Bardot. The winged liner is an oldie but goldie that fits right in with this season’s trends. Are you an Audrey who wears a subtle, come-hither flick that is innocently flirty? Or a Bardot who is unapologetically sexy with bold, thick lines?

Shimmer and shine

As the belle of the ball, it is your day to shine! And this year, it extends to eyes as well. Bronzy shades get the top vote from many bridal trend spotters, calling it the new smokey eyes. But gold and silver as well as blue and green eyeshadows in shiny metallic also drew attention.

More on the eyes

If you want to stay true to the bare minimum with your makeup then opt for full natural brows and lush lashes. Fake it with a brow tattoo – or if you’re hesitant, a brow kit – and fabulous eyelash extensions artfully woven and well-coated with heavy-duty mascara.
